It is time to start looking ahead to what the biggest trends of this year are going to be. We're gonna be looking at these through the floral lens, but many of them will apply to all aspects of your wedding! Whether you are nearing the big day and want to incorporate one of these new trends in a minor fashion, or just got engaged and have no idea where to start... you definitely need to check out these trends!

1 | Sustainable Weddings!

Okay obviously this is our favorite, but it's true! Everyone is predicting that sustainable weddings will be a big trend next year! "In these eco-conscious times we live in, now more than ever, couple are looking at ways to host responsibly. This means cutting back on unnecessary waste and trying to be as eco-friendly as possible." - wedinspire.com

If you've found this blog post you know that we are a faux flower rental company. We use the highest quality faux flowers in all of our arrangements that we rent out for weddings and events. After the big day is over you or our delivery driver will bring your flowers back and we will re-use them in another beautiful arrangement! Real flower florists throw out thousands of flowers after each event, not to mention the flowers that are thrown out before they can even be used because they are tearing, wilting or dying. We rarely ever throw away flowers. Even when our whites get dingy or stained, we can just dye them a new color!

You can also re-use flowers from the ceremony at the reception like the arch above was!

Check out these other trendy lists stating that eco-friendly is the way to go!

"Sustainable weddings are on the rise and we're here for it. Consider 'upcycling' your wedding, by committing to xero waste or a reduced carbon footprint." - theknot.com

"Eco-conscious wedding decor is also becoming more common." - insider.com

"Couples marrying now are very conscious of the damage we have done to the planet and they can actively ensure they are as environmentally friendly as they can be." - Bernadette Chapman from UK Alliance of Wedding Planners elle.com

2 | Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

Not only were these bridesmaids some of our favorites (just look at these fierce ladies!) but they were also some of the best dressed we saw in 2019! Some were in wedding jumpsuits, some were in velvet dresses, they were all so fabulous!

A few of our 2020 brides have asked us to make different bridesmaid bouquets for each bridesmaid based on the color of her dress. This is such a fantastic trend for faux flowers because we have all of our flowers in studio all year round! No matter what color the dress is or what time of year it is, we can build you and your girls a beautiful bouquet!

3 | Using flowers for more than just bouquets

Does your wedding vision include a statement piece full of greenery and/or flowers? We can pretty much guarantee that with real flowers, something like that is going to cost thousands by itself! With faux flowers, you can have a beautiful piece like the collection of floral hoops pictured above, and not blow your entire floral budget.

4 | Barettes and Combs

Here at Compass Rose we have been very ahead of the game on this trend. Building faux flower combs is a piece of cake and you don't have to worry about the flowers dying or spilling pollen into your gorgeous 'do! (We also make outstanding floral crowns too, just sayin')
